Calanio ("we", "us", "our") operates an AI-powered document generation platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our service at calanio.com and related applications.

By using Calanio, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Information we collect

Account information

When you register, we collect your email address and a password (stored as a cryptographic hash — never in plain text). We may also collect a display name if you choose to provide one.

Conversation and workspace data

We store the content of your AI conversations and the documents you generate within Calanio workspaces. This data is necessary to provide the core service, including multi-session continuity (picking up where you left off).

Usage data

We collect standard technical information such as IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and session duration to monitor service health and improve the product.

How we use your information

Providing the service

Your conversation data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate AI responses. This is the core mechanism of the product. By using Calanio, you consent to your conversation content being processed by Anthropic's systems under their Privacy Policy and API usage policies.

Improving the product

We use aggregated, anonymized usage data to understand how people use Calanio and to prioritize improvements. We do not use individual conversation content to train AI models.

Communications

We may send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset) and, with your consent, product updates. You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.

Third-party services

Calanio relies on the following third-party services:

Anthropic — AI model provider. Your conversation content is processed by Anthropic's Claude API. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics (GA4) — Anonymous usage analytics. You can opt out via your browser's cookie settings or by declining our cookie consent banner.

We do not sell your personal data to any third parties, and we do not share your conversation content with third parties other than Anthropic for the purpose of providing the service.

Data retention

We retain your account and workspace data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and conversation history will be deleted within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance reasons.

Data security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel only. While we take security seriously, no system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password for your account.

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data
Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
